I am brand new to Natural golf, I have had 1 session using the natural golf swing. I hit approximately 250 balls and I was completely astounded! especially with short irons and wedges my accuracy and ball striking were way better than usual. In fact I was able to hit all my clubs better except my 3 wood and 5 wood off the deck. I was hitting off a mat, and I was topping the ball a lot with these clubs and even the solid strikes were very low, any ideas? I tried moving the ball position and it didn't seem to help, My swing plane felt very flat with these clubs and I felt I was standing quite far from the ball, but my right forearm was in line with the shaft. I would appreciate and thoughts? thanks

Welcome to the simplicity of Single Plane! Do you find your iron shots lower than normal, even though they are solid? Is there any curve to you iron shots, like a draw or hook, or do you pull your short irons consistently? Those answers will help me diagnose your fairway wood issue. From the clubhead’s standpoint, a topped shot is an approach angle issue, either too shallow or too steep. If your swing feels “flat” your approach may be too shallow and you may simply have to strike the ball with the intent of descending into impact. A low shot indicates the opposite, assuming the strike is solid, meaning the approach angle is too steep and would need to shallow out in order to present the clubface to the ball with appropriate loft. The other influence is face angle at impact. If the clubface is closed, the effective loft will be reduced and the ball will fly lower than expected. By analyzing you short iron flights in more detail, we will be able to fix your fairway wood issue…

I don't think my iron shots are lower than normal, if they are it is only slightly. There is no draw or fade, just straight. With my old swing I would hit a soft fade with most clubs. I didn't pull any iron shots either. My wedges (56 and 50)actually seemed to fly higher than usual but I think it could have been caused by the mat I was hitting off of. It was new and pretty thick and bouncy. it kinda felt like the wedges were bouncing up into the ball slightly. But my distance and direction were extremely accurate with these clubs, better than ever! In fact the shots I was hitting with these wedges convinced me to stick with this swing!! I think the mat possibly may have had a little to do with me topping shots with my 3 and 5 wood also by causing the club to bounce when it hit the mat, and then to compensate for this a hit some shots thin. I need to find some grass somewhere that is frozen and covered in snow. thanks for any suggestions.
