A number of our readers ask the question "how can I eliminate the dreaded over-the-top move in my swing?" The simple answer; replace forward swing shoulder turn with trail arm extension as your power source.
Practice the motion demonstrated in the photos below to feel the back and out direction of your trail arm as your primary intent to power your swing.
Notice how the upper arm doesn't "swing" away from the side of the body but "pistons" back from the ball on the angle established at setup. If your trail arm works in a "linear" motion away from and then back out to the ball, your shoulders will accommodate with less rotation; thereby eliminating over-the-top swing actions.
John Rizzo, one of our Natural Golf Certified Instructors in the Seattle, WA area, stated the action even more simply - "Can't extend if you don't bend! (the elbow that is...)" Well said John!

Give extension a try and we'll see you down the middle!
