The Natural Source of Leverage

By Ken Martin, Director of Golf Instruction

Now we all know the formula  Perfect Impact = Pressure + Direction.... so the question arises "what applies the pressure?"

The answer for the Natural Golfer is Trail Arm Extension.

One of the simplest orientations to use to apply pressure to the ball through impact is using a trail arm 'piston' action to deliver the clubface squarely through the back of the ball.  Once positioned in your Single Plane Setup, you can get on with the task of folding (piston-ing) your trail arm inward to move the club away from the ball on plane and then extending your arm back out through impact to deliver the strike.

Trail arm extension through impact IS the ACTION that delivers the strike to the ball.

Because your Single Plane Setup positions your arms on the same plane as the shaft at address, your body will naturally stabilize as you extend your trail arm through the impact zone.

The "switch" from old swing habits of body twisting or turning to create power begins by understanding that the power source for your Natural Golf swing is created by extending your trail arm to deliver the strike.  With extension as your task, you will instantly replace old habits because you will consciously be doing something different.
Embrace this action as how you apply pressure to the ball and we know you'll be pleased with the result!
